Learn more about Code 22

  1. Code 22 is a code of honor for all humanity.

Each 22nd day is officially proclaimed the City-Wide Day of Peace and healing in Detroit and 13 additional cities in the surrounding areas. 13 City Councils and Mayors have officially adopted the 22nd by way of proclamations and testimony of resolutions. Each citizen is asked to honor the code by wearing white and intentionally promoting peace in their circles of influence each 22nd. Honoring CODE22 means a day to eliminate all negative emotions including unforgiveness and intentionally allowing peace to flow through each individual for 1 day. Those engaged in violence are asked to stop the violence and honor the code for this 1 day. The goal is a no violence day across America, a day for peace and healing for all

Each 22nd day since October 2010 our mission has been focused creating peace with a special concern for those who have been victims of violence. Each month families are invited and gathered to an event, The City-Wide Night of Peace and Healing. This is a monthly initiative held in local churches. Victims of victims of violence are empowered by therapist and clergy at each event. Healing become the focus as victims learn how to turn their pain into power through practicing forgiveness, and the discipline of making positive changes.

CODE22 is a method of approach that calls everyone to an awareness of peace which can enhance lives.
We are proud to launch this nationwide initiative from Detroit.  Our city is a great city filled with great people doing great things.  Just as Motown was to music, and Henry Ford is to the auto industry so is Code22, a positive attainable initiative creating positive results for all humanity.

Local support from our Detroit Chief of Police, James White, Wayne County Sherrif Raphael Washington, Former UAW President, Rory Gamble, many local churches, community organizations, including Crimestoppers of Michigan work with us to create a safer city.  Our vision is for CODE22 to become a National No Violence Day by our newly elected President.

Will you honor the code?  By setting aside each 22nd to intentionally acknowledge and promote peace, we can make a difference in our world.

Break the Cycle
